| Eastern Pondhawks (Erythemis simplissicollis, and Western Pondhawks (E. collocata) seem to interbreed where the two meet and so are now considered the same species. We live in Colorado where east and west meet. Some of these photos are intermediate forms. Differences can be quite subtle. Since most of you are familiar with Western Pondhawks, I did not include Colorado photos of them. Next year we hope to photograph more intermediate forms. |
